Really proud to have won two Silver medals at the British Charcuterie Awards 2018 for our Pink Gin Salami, made as always with our own rare-breed Berkshire pork. We have carefully blended a selection of the finest Pink Gin botanicals to create a truly unique tasting gin flavoured salami that makes a fantastic accompaniment to the 'Gin Lovers Tool-kit'. The very first British Charcuterie Awards took place in the grounds of Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire in August 2018. The event was hosted by BBC Countryfile live - so whilst we were there, we also got to see the Countryfile live team in action.
Our day started off with a mad dash around the farm to feed and water the pigs, chickens and peafowl. Strange to think, even our youngest piglets were 'rooting' for us that morning! Once done, we had a quick glug of coffee and were off to Blenheim Palace. It was the first British Charcuterie Awards, so we really didn't know what to expect. We also didn't quite appreciate how tough the competition was going to be. There were a wide range of Charcutiers from across the UK. There was a good mixture of small and really large, well established companies.... and then there was The Baker's Pig. We had only been trading for a couple of years before we entered the competition. We paid the entry fee - and decided to just enter a single salami to see how we fared against the competition. We selected our Pink Gin Salami. No one else was making Gin flavoured salami at the time - so we thought we might be in with a chance to shine.

The gamble certainly paid off and we came back home to the farm with two Silver Awards! A really big thanks to our neighbour Tina, for sorting out the animals whilst we were away.
All that was left to do once we got home was crack open a bottle of bubbly and celebrate on the patio, joy!
